A postembryonic combo from the fermenting Canberra scene, Moh Van Wah was founded by two brothers with extensive experience in rock mongering. Driven by the genetic interplay of the patent ‘hard but loose' guitar and bass bludgeoning, the band moves deftly from raucous riff busting into dark ambient interludes with their modern r'n'r sensibilities intact.

Together with their current line up for only 3 months, the band have already moved into their second set of songs, toured interstate and spent time in the recording studio. This early stage of the band's development is punctuated with intense bursts of creativity, reinvention and serious rehearsal.

Through the patina of public service crackle arises the sound of a band ready to move from the small but supportive scene in Canberra to the stages of rock strongholds around the country. With a live show forged in the ice-cold halls of mountain cynics (every Canberra punter either a muso, critic o indiscriminate detractor), Moh Van Wah are ready to warm the cockles of the coldest heart.

Brothers Ryan and Marcus form the core of the band's sound with their frenetic guitar and bass work. Marcus on drums provides an extra dimension of flair and ingenuity, while the newest member, Ben, fronts the band with a guitar and a bad attitude.

Comparisons with the other bands are necessarily limited to a song-by-song basis; due to the eclectic breadth of rock styling the band brings to it's set. Described by one commentator as “ Canberra 's own Soundgarden”, the band's live show makes it clear to all punters that this comparison is obvious or even intellectually lazy. While the bands share heavy rhythmic rock elements and attitude, Moh Van Wah updates the template to include more diverse and contemporary ideas, while refocusing their energy into the intensity of performance and the essential task of all bands: entertainment.
